Technically speaking, the EVO 150 is an integrated amplifier with a built-in DA converter and a streamer with online features. The amplifier section of the device features a Hypex NCore D-class amplifier, and for streaming, there is the StreamMagic platform developed by Cambridge Audio.

And all of this is presented in a visually appealing package that gracefully combines different surface materials and finishes, which can be easily controlled via the control app for a modern experience.

Cambridge Audio is not the first manufacturer to bring the all-in-one device like the EVO 150 to the market, but the brand’s vision on the subject is undoubtedly not only interesting but also convincing. At the heart of it all is extensive connectivity with various audio and media sources, as well as the harmonious interplay of the entire system. The EVO 150 could easily be considered the sole centerpiece in the living room, to which you can, if desired, connect a television with an hdmi connection, either USB mass storage devices or a computer, vinyl record player with a vinyl record player adapter, analog or digital program sources, and so on.

The actual amplification power of the EVO 150 is 150 watts per eight ohms, and it can be connected to two pairs of speakers. The device’s DAC, on the other hand, is the ESS Sabre ES9018K2M, whose resolution reaches a maximum of 384 kilohertz on the PCM side and 256-bit dsd on the SDD side.

With today’s needs in mind, the EVO 150 is in many ways a high-resolution player. Thanks to its DAC, it can play back high-resolution files from various wired or USB sources, but when using wireless Bluetooth, there is also an aptx hd codec included. Of course, there is plenty of resolution when it comes to streaming online as well. The selection includes upnp playback from Airplay 2, Chromecast, online radio channels, Spotify Connect, TIDAL with Qobuz support, and Roon Ready. The network connections are available in both wireless Wi-Fi and wired Ethernet.

The device’s use is made easier by the precise and large 6.8-inch color display, and the smart device can take full advantage of the web functions with a controller app that can be downloaded to the device. However, the package also includes a traditional remote control.

The Cambridge Audio EVO 150 costs 2,599 euros.
