Chord introduced two extreme space amplifiers – the manufacturer's most advanced power sample to date

Chord Electronics has introduced two new Ultima flagship amplifiers. The combination of the front amplifier and two monoblock units has been designed from the ground up as a new product. This is the manufacturer’s most advanced amplifier series to date.

The preamp is a dual mono unit and has a separate power supply for both channels. The power supplies are housed in an aluminum case to avoid interference. The unit has three pairs of balanced outputs and the same number of unbalanced ones. There are four balanced inputs and four unbalanced ones. The front panel has a headphone jack and an audio output for home theater use.

The Monoblok has a new topology, which is the first completely new one since 1989. The amplification technology was presented at the Etude stands at the Munich High End Show, but now it is being used for the first time in a monovolt amplifier. It weighs 86 kilograms and has an output power of 780 watts at eight ohms load or alternatively 1,400 watts at four ohms and 2,500 watts at two ohms.

The manufacture of the amplifiers takes a week per unit and is done by hand. Thanks to the Integra feet, the devices can be stacked with Chord equipment using a stand. The prices and availability in Finland are not known yet, but in the UK the devices cost 30 thousand pounds per unit. So the total cost for stereo equipment and terminals is 90 thousand pounds.
