The French car manufacturer Citroën has developed glasses for people suffering from motion sickness. These glasses are the first of their kind in the world.
Motion caused by the swaying of the head, which irritates the vestibular inner ear, causes motion sickness. If the eyes do not see the movement detected by the inner ear, the symptoms worsen. For many people, it is common, for example, to feel sick when reading in a moving vehicle.
The frames of the Seetroën glasses have blue liquid inside that creates an artificial horizon. Thus, the senses in the eyes and inner ear are harmonized, and the discomfort should subside. The glasses were developed by studio 5•5, and their Boarding Ring technology is patented and clinically tested.
Glasses are put on when the motion sickness symptoms start and are kept on for 10–12 minutes to alleviate the symptoms. The glasses can be worn with your own glasses. On the flip side, they have a crazy look.
If you have been taking anti-nausea medication, glasses are of no help, as the medication affects the communication between the inner ear and the visual sense. Glasses are also not recommended for children under 10 years of age.
The price for the glasses is At Citroën Racing's store 99 euros.
