Two powerful MusicCast installation amplifiers from Yamaha – possible to expand to 32-zone

Two models of MusicCast multi-room amplifiers have appeared from Yamaha – the XDA-QS5400RK and the XDA-AMP5400RK, which can be used as a backup if necessary.

The devices are suitable for installation, as the amplifiers have detachable treble horns. The devices are the size of a single treble horn. Both are four-zone and eight-channel, so they can be used to drive, for example, full-house wall-mounted speakers or outdoor speakers. The installation is promised to be flexible, and the system can be expanded.

With the AMP model, it is possible to add eight more channels or alternatively to boost the power of the QS model. It can be used with other Yamaha amplifiers that have zone pre-out outputs. Both models can be bridged. In addition to the input connections, both amplifiers have thru out connections. The trigger connections, on the other hand, can be used to mute each amplifier zone separately.

They are compatible with MusicCast devices such as speakers or amplifiers. The multi-room system includes a comprehensive selection of streaming services such as Spotify, Deezer, Tidal, Napster, and online radio stations. Control is achieved using the MusicCast app or third-party home control systems. Devices with Amazon Alexa can also be controlled verbally using MusicCast devices.

The speakers feature ICEpower amplifier modules with 50 watts of power, and two ESS 32-bit and 384-kHz converters for audiophile-grade sound. The amplifier supports 24-bit deep playback at 192 kHz sampling rate. There are two Lan connections, so the devices can be cascaded to a maximum of eight units for a 32-zone system. The speakers feature noise-cancelling circuitry to prevent hum caused by ground loops.

Different rooms and areas can play either the same or different music. The device can also be connected to analog playback sources via aux inputs. When using the Cut-in connection, the amplifier also automatically changes the playback source when it detects an input signal.
