iFi Audio's compact and versatile wireless headphone amplifier
iFi Audio has introduced the new GO Blend, which combines a Bluetooth receiver and a headphone amplifier. It can be used to listen to music, for example wirelessly from a phone.
In terms of size, the device is compact, measuring only 55 x 33 x 13 millimeters and weighing only 36 grams. Despite all this, the Bluetooth, DA converter, and amplifier have been separated. The Bluetooth is handled by the latest quad-core QCC5100 chip from the Qualcomm chipmaker. Thanks to this, wireless playback works via modern codecs: aptX Adaptive, aptX HD, aptX Low Latency, LDAC, HWA/LHDC, AAC, and of course the basic SBC as well. The connection is version 5.1.
The DA converter is implemented using a 32-bit circuit from Cirrus Logic. The jitter is suppressed by a precision clock and the pre-echoes are filtered with a digital filter. The amplifier section is implemented as a symmetrical, analog dual-mono signal path and direct connection. With a 5.6 volt voltage output from the amplifier, even heavier loads should be handled.
The user can choose the XBass bass enhancement if the headphones used lack the low end punch. However, the mid frequencies should remain clear. The XSpace, on the other hand, helps achieve a more immersive listening experience with the headphones. These features are analog.
The outputs include one 3.5mm headphone jack and a symmetrical 4.4mm Pentacon connector. The traditional headphone jack also features an S-Balance circuit that is said to halve crosstalk with its distortion.
The case is made of lightweight and highly signal-transmitting polymer and has a retro-style design. The device includes a built-in CMOS-MEMS microphone that allows you to make calls, chat with your gaming friends, or wake up a voice assistant like Apple Siri or Google Assistant.
Battery life is promised to be approximately eight hours, depending on the headphones and volume. The USB-C charging port can also be used as an audio output with 24-bit and 96 kHz PCM quality.
The price of the iFi Audio GO Blulla is 199 euros.
