German hi-fi manufacturer Vincent has introduced a new integrated amplifier into its Power Line range, the SV-228. It replaces the previous SV-227MK model. It is a hybrid amplifier, with the preamp operating via tubes and the power amp using transistors. The preamp consists of one 6N4 and two ECC82s.
The front panel always features the equally captivating VU meter. The rear panel has two line level RCA pairs as inputs, coaxial, optical, and main in. On the output side, there is a pre out, rec out, and four pairs of speaker terminals. The power output is 8 ohms with a load of 2 x 100 watts and 4 ohms with a load of 2 x 180 watts.
The frequency response is promised to remain between 20 Hz – 20 kHz with a +/- 0.5 dB tolerance and between 20 Hz – 50 kHz with a +/- 2 dB tolerance. The signal-to-noise ratio is reported to be > 90 dB and the total harmonic distortion is < 0.1 percent. Supported digital formats are wav, flac, ape, lpcm, mp3, aac, ac3, and wma. The color options are black and silver-gray. The price and availability in Finland are not yet known. www.vincent-tac.de
