Magnatin Transpuls 800A is a retro speaker with Bluetooth and record player connections

The Transpuls 800A, released by the German hi-fi manufacturer Magnat in late autumn 2021, has arrived in Finland. It complements the retro-style Transpuls range with an active and Bluetooth-connected model.

This is not some modern tower speaker that fits neatly into a minimalist interior, but a proper-sized speaker in a good old-fashioned design that takes its rightful place in the decor. In return, the speaker is promised to deliver a more dynamic and musical music experience and a wider sound spectrum than pillar speakers. The speakers are recommended especially for rock, soul, jazz and pop listeners.

The retro shells do, however, include modern features. Wireless playback is achieved via Bluetooth equipped with the aptX codec. It also supports the Low Latency feature. For connecting to the television, there is an HDMI port that supports ARC return channel and CEC, meaning the speaker obeys the television remote control. Additionally, the speaker has a MM phono input that can also be used as a line-level 3.5 mm AUX input and an optical input.

For digital input there is a 24-bit and 192 kHz DA converter. You can select between the inputs using the selector on the back of the speaker or the volume control. A remote control with batteries is also included.

The amplifier is said to produce 2 x 120 watts of instantaneous power and 2 x 60 watts of continuous power. The elements are a one-inch fabric dome tweeter with neodymium magnet and a 6.5-inch bass/midrange driver with a hard paper cone. In the crossover section, the drivers have second- and third-order crossover sensitivity. The playback is said to reach 34 hertz to 32 kilohertz. If you need more bass, the speakers have an output for an active subwoofer.

The case is made of mdf and is equipped with two large forward-facing reflex tubes. The case is finished in a retro style with a dark wood imitation. The baffle is black and can be covered with a fabric cover.
