Ricoh introduced a new Theta SC2 camera – offers 360-degree 4K footage

Ricoh has unveiled the new Theta SC2 camera. This is a 360-degree camera that replaces the SC camera introduced in 2016. In video recording, the camera offers 4K resolution instead of the predecessor’s 1080p resolution, now at 30 fps and for up to three minutes. Vibration reduction has been improved. Use is said to be simple thanks to the revamped user interface.

As with the predecessor, the CMOS sensor has two units. With two 180-degree lenses, the camera offers 360-degree images with a resolution of 14 megapixels. There are preset shooting modes, such as the new white balance mode for underwater photography. The Face mode recognizes human faces and places them in the center of the image, adjusts the exposure and smoothes the skin with noise reduction. In low light, dynamic range compensation and noise reduction are combined to achieve better low-light capabilities.

With the mobile app, you can still adjust the picture afterwards. The camera supports four times faster wireless data transfer and there is the option to upload your footage to Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Bluetooth connectivity is also available.

There are four color options. Compared to the predecessor, it also has a timer button and an OLED status display. The camera is promised to start up in 1.5 seconds, and as an additional accessory, a remote control and a waterproof case are also available as a new feature.
