Fyne Audio retroes in a big and small way

Scottish loudspeaker manufacturer Fyne Audio has introduced two new retro-style loudspeakers: Vintage Fifteen and Vintage Five. They expand the Vintage range in both a smaller and larger direction.

The Vintage Fifteen model is the larger one, and it sits above the Ten and Twelve models. The name comes from the size of the bass/midrange element, as the element that combines different materials in its cone is 15 inches in size. Next to it, in the center of the coaxial element is a 75 mm compression tweeter with a titanium coil and neodymium magnet.

The speaker is said to have an instantaneous power of 800 watts. Sensitivity is 97 decibels per watt, and the playback is promised to reach a minimum of 22 Hertz. The weight of the speaker is 93 kilograms per piece. The enclosure is made of hand-crafted birch plywood and is covered with walnut veneer. This is a bass reflex speaker with a port placed behind the speaker. Thanks to the manufacturer’s largest BassTrax LF diffuser, the turbulence of the port has reportedly been eliminated.

The Vintage Five, on the other hand, belongs to a completely different size class. It is a bookshelf speaker. However, its appearance is surprisingly similar to the larger model. It also has a coaxial driver, but the bass/midrange driver is five inches in size and the tweeter is a magnesium dome element with a diameter of 19 millimeters. The driver’s body is made of aluminum.
