Two retro-style record players from Thorens
Thorens has unveiled two new turntables: the TD 1500 and the TD 403 DD. Both honor the manufacturer's heritage.
The design of the TD 150 with a belt drive has taken inspiration from the company’s first TD 150 record player, from which everything began. It features a separate record plate and audio arm from the motor and the chassis using a spacer. The aluminum record plate weighs 1.4 kilograms. The motor’s rotational speed is monitored and adjusted automatically.
The instrument has a TP-150 pickup. It is lightweight, profile S and is equipped with a pickup, vertical tracking angle and needle tension adjustment. It has an Ortofon 2M Bronze pickup on the head. The outputs are available as RCA and XLR.
The more affordable TD 433 DD is straight-drive. It has no auxiliary mechanism. The TD 433 DD also has a 1.4-kilogram aluminum plate and TP-150 soundbar, but with the more affordable Ortofon 2M Blue soundbar. There is also no XLR output on the player.
The price for the Thorens TD 1500 is 1,999 euros, and for the TD 403 DD 1,399 euros.
